Outreach programs are very important to our government.
It allows us to keep in touch with various groups in all regions of the province.
That includes Aborigional people, whose traditions enrich the cultural fabric of Ontario.
For many years, Aboriginal communities have also made valuable contributions to our economic growth.
And tonight’s award is a prime example.
Project Beyshick, an annual job shadowing program, connects young people from Aboriginal communities across the North with CEOs of Canada’s leading corporations.
It provides tremendous experience to those fortunate enough to participate.
This project complements our ministry’s goal of encouraging entrepreneurship across Ontario.
Project Beyshick nurtures corporate leadership and entrepreneurship among First Nations Youth and their communities.
And Darcy Kejick has certainly exhibited excellent qualities necessary to succeed by:
• starting and expanding his own business
• demonstrating corporate leadership
• and encouraging aboriginal youth to succeed
Congratulations Darcy!
Premier Dalton McGuinty and our Government are proud of your accomplishments.
I’d also like to extend a special thank you to Mr. Aditya Jha, Deputy Grand Chief Fiddler and Harvey Yesno for all their work in making this event a reality.
Thank you for inviting me to be a part of this important occasion.
